Larmax Homes develops, owns, and manages nine memory care homes for older adults many of whom are living with dementia, located in Bethesda, Maryland and McLean, Virginia. In 2017, along with other program recognition, Larmax received the Insight “Excellence in Care” award for our innovative model of memory care, and we are looking for a part-time, professional Activity Coordinator who will be instrumental in helping us continue to accomplish great things.
The person in this exciting position will work approximately 18 hours per week over three days. Most of the time will be spent in our three homes in McLean, VA but they will also have the opportunity to work in our six homes in Bethesda, MD.
Our Activity Coordinator will provide an ongoing program of activities to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. Duties will involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include occasional weekends, evening and holidays.
Main Objectives of the Activity Professional:
Plan and provide activity programming that meets the needs of the resident population and includes, but is not limited to:
1:1 and group activities
Outings into the community
Occasional evening, weekend and holiday programing
Complete required documentation of activities
Assist in training and management of volunteers
Qualifications
Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent. Certification by a recognized accrediting body for activities professionals is a plus.
Preference will be given to person with 3+ years’ experience running activities in an older adult setting. Experience with dementia required.
Experience driving a 14-seater bus (or equivalent) desired. Must qualify for our insurance and have a good driving record.
Must be able to lift/push 50+ lbs. and have the necessary mobility to strap residents in wheelchairs.
Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and must be able to wear a mask within the homes.
