Larmax Homes develops, owns, and manages eight memory care homes for older adults, located in Bethesda, Maryland and McLean, Virginia. Our company has a strategic plan to expand our footprint in the next several years. In 2017, along with other program recognition, Larmax received the Insight “Excellence in Care” award for our innovative model of care, and we are looking for a full-time Activity Professional who will be instrumental in helping us continue to accomplish great things.

Our Activity Professional will provide an ongoing program of activities to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident. Duties will involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that may include occasional weekends, evening and holidays. This team member will also be required to drive a personal car between each of the eight homes, usually at least two different locations per day (mileage will be compensated).


  • Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent and MEPAP certification. This person may be an Activities Professional Certified by a recognized accrediting body.
  • Preference will be given to person with 3+ years’ experience running activities in an older adult setting. Experience with dementia preferred.
  • CPR/ First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Experience driving a 14-seater bus (or equivalent) required. Must qualify for our insurance and have a good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift/push 50+ lbs. and have the necessary mobility to strap residents in wheelchairs.
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and must be able to wear a mask within the homes.

Activity Professional Candidates should:

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate effective problem resolution skills
  • Be able to maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Can meet deadlines
  • Can work within a small Engagement team, while also able to work well independently

Main Objectives of the Activity Professional:

  • Plan and provide activity programming that meets the needs of the resident population and includes, but is not limited to:
    • 1:1 and group activities
    • Outings into the community
    • Occasional evening, weekend and holiday programing
  • Complete required documentation of activities
  • Deliver supplies between the houses
