About the Position 

Goodwin Living is seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a heart for mission and enthusiasm for our exciting growth journey to serve more older adults across the National Capital region. With lives touched more than doubling in the last three years, Goodwin Living has five service lines all in growth mode through organic growth, affiliations and acquisitions. Led by an aligned and passionate management team and fueled by the mission dedication of nearly 1,100 team members, our faith-based not-for-profit continues to bring insight, quality and innovation to supporting, honoring and uplifting the lives of older adults and those who care for them, We approach 2023 and the future energized by our 2022 rebranding to Goodwin Living, which has been enthusiastically received by stakeholders and the market.

Reporting to the CEO, the COO serves on the Goodwin Living Strategy Team which consists of the parent organization’s officers. This COO plays a leading role in setting goals, setting the operational vision for excellence and innovation, aligning systems for maximum effectiveness in service delivery and efficiency and talent development. 

The COO oversees the Goodwin Living campus-based operations, including Life Plan Communities (entrance fee models with full continuum of care) and rental communities.

 In addition, the COO leads efforts to deliver innovative services that foster well-being, including spiritual life and brain health.

Job Duties

The COO Reports to the CEO and Leads a Variety of Key Initiatives:

  • Operational Vision and Planning for Senior Living Campuses
  • Organizational and Systems Alignment and Performance
  • Lifestyle Enrichment, Clinical Standards of Care and Wellness Operations and Initiatives for Residents of Senior Living Campuses
  • Excellence in all We Do

Job Requirements 

  • A master’s degree in business administration or a closely related discipline

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience and a minimum of five years serving as the COO and relevant experience in each of the functional areas listed above

  • A successful track record of maintaining strong, positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Prior senior living experience preferred
