Job Description

We are seeking a creative and dedicated Arts Program Coordinator to join our team and oversee our vibrant Arts Program for residents. As the Arts Program Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement various artistic activities, workshops, and classes, fostering a lively and engaging environment for our residents. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing residents' artistic expression, promoting their well-being, and creating meaningful experiences within our community. 

Key Duties

  • Manage the "Opening Minds Through Art" program: You will take the lead in planning, coordinating, and facilitating art programs specifically designed for residents with moderate to advanced dementia. This includes training volunteers on the "Opening Minds Through Art" program and providing guidance on working with residents with dementia. 

  • Budget management: You will develop and submit the budget for the overall art program, ensuring its alignment with organizational guidelines. Additionally, you will monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with the established budgetary guidelines. 

  • Engaging presentations and public speaking: As the Arts Program Coordinator, you will create visually appealing PowerPoint presentations and deliver engaging talks to large groups of residents and guests during Newcomers meetings, art receptions, and lectures. Your presentations will aim to inspire, educate, and entertain the audience. 

  • Collaborate and contribute to departmental goals: You will actively contribute to achieving the department's goals and objectives, collaborating with fellow staff members and promoting a positive team dynamic. Your creativity, enthusiasm, and ability to treat all individuals with respect will foster a cohesive and inclusive arts community. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred or equivalent required with additional training in advanced art, humanities, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in conducting artistic classes, workshops, and/or programs required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must have computer skills in basic word processing.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with others.
