The Director of Community Life is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Transportation, Security, Hospitality, Fitness and Aquatics, Evergreen Boutique, Chaplains office, and Independent Living Programs and Special Events departments. This position is accountable for responding to the psychological and psycho-physical needs of residents and maintaining a positive, safe and enjoyable environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that daily operations of the assigned departments are maintained and meets the expectations of the residents.
  • Develops and expands policies and procedures for current and future department programs to ensure efficient services and quality and compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Supervises direct reports, evaluates performance, develops and coaches staff, sets expectations and holds staff accountable to RPP policies and procedures.
  • Interviews, hires, and orients new departmental staff
  • Follows appropriate safety precautions, is familiar with emergency preparedness plans and is compliant with RPP policies/procedures.
  • Is aware of local, state, federal and regulatory requirements related to Resident rights and responsibilities and ensures the community is in compliance.
  • Develops and manages family inclusion programs to include staff presentations, social functions, educational seminars and other events designed to encourage family members to participate as members of the RPP community.
  • Utilize written and other communication methods to inform family members of events, policy changes and general information to keep them engaged in resident life at RPP.
  • Provides orientation to new residents and provides resources to facilitate assimilation into the RPP community. Works in a collaborative manner with all other departments and facilitates communication between departments.
  • Prepares and completes department budgets and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Three to five years providing supervision in a Senior Living setting required.
