The Director of Philanthropy has overall responsibility for developing and implementing a long range strategic fundraising program with an emphasis on donor cultivation, major gifts, community and civic giving, planned giving, and capital fundraising. The Director of Philanthropy is also responsible for implementing and achieving the organizational fund development plan towards the goal of an increased donor acquisition and retention; with a directed focus on major gift donors. Also, this position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for maintaining a high-quality presence in the general community and the long-term care arena.
In addition to fundraising efforts, this position is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of organizational fundraising events. The Director of Philanthropy sets direction and develops strategies for accomplishment of organizational goals and priorities in accordance with agency philosophy and values. This position also partners with the Executive Director, Board Chair, Board Members, and development staff to best position the organization for effective donor cultivation and stewardship.
The Director of Philanthropy works collectively with the development team that consists of the Development Coordinator and Director of Communication, in addition to the development committee of the board of directors. The Director of Philanthropy will provide direct oversight to the development team to achieve budgeted goals for all fundraising efforts of the organization, including grants and events to achieve its short-term and long-term strategic priorities
