Qualifications: Must be compassionate, patient, and responsible. Must be fluent in English and have related post-high school education and life experience. Direct experience in working with the elderly preferred. Must be comfortable with administrative duties (such as reporting) and be able to complete them in a timely manner. Must have the ability to work with flexible hours (evenings and weekend availability a plus, but not a requirement); part-time; up to 5-20 hours per week (with the understanding that it may take time to build up to these hours). Must have current auto insurance as well as the willingness to transport clients.

 

Summary: The Friendly Visitor will report to the Director of the Friendly Visitor Program who will make assignments based on availability, geographic location and shared interests. The FV (Friendly Visitor) will receive a detailed email with information on each client which includes contact information, geographic location, and specific information about the client’s interests and background. The client service plan will be reviewed with the FV prior to the first visit. Hourly salary based on experience. Work available in DC, MD and VA.  Current needs focused in DC and MD. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide companionship—in home or outings
  • Shopping/errands
  • Schedule appointments as needed
  • Maintain calendar of events
  • Assist with coordination/organization of appointments
  • Accompany the client to appointments or activities
  • Assist the client in activities for stimulation and well-being
  • Report any unusual change in client or in living environment to the Director of Friendly Visitors
  • Make telephone calls on behalf of/to the client
  • Maintain accurate travel log and submit monthly for reimbursement
  • Complete progress notes on time
  • Process client-related expenses in a company-wide tracking system
  • Attend mandatory Friendly Visitor staff meetings and training
  • Other duties as assigned
