Mercy Ridge, an upscale retirement community located in Timonium, Maryland is seeking a full time Maintenance Manager to become a part of our team. Under the supervision of the Director of Facility Services, the Maintenance Manager is primarily responsible for the supervision of the daily maintenance activities of hourly employees in the completion of their duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for assigning and scheduling work for department employees; maintains records of employee attendance; assists with the annual performance review process and disciplinary process.

  • Issues keys and equipment and ensures that they are handled and used properly and safely.

  • Assists inspectors and contractors in the testing, inspection or repair of equipment, building/mechanical systems and structure.

  • Acts as department liaison to residents and other departments with regards to customer service issues.

  • Responsible for the orientation and hands on training of employees in maintenance areas, including trades, preventative maintenance, building/maintenance systems and other mechanical needs for the facility.

  • Responsible for filling in for department workers under your supervision when staffing shortages occur. Fill-in responsibilities may include activities such as performing routine maintenance tasks, scheduled maintenance checks throughout the facility or scheduled planned or unplanned maintenance on equipment and/or systems according to manufacturer’s recommendations and operation manuals.

  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate inventory levels of necessary supplies, equipment, and materials.

  • Is on call for all disaster emergencies such as: snow, ice storms, fire, tornados and floods; is placed on a weekly on call schedule.


  • High school education required. Graduates of accredited technical schools are preferred.
  • Position requires three to five years of hands-on maintenance, HVAC and other building/mechanical systems experience.
  • Position requires a minimum of one to three years of supervisory experience.
  • Position requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Position may require certifications or licenses as determined by local authority.
