As members of a dynamic and growing sales team, Sales Counselors guide individuals through careful and thoughtful explorations of GHI options, with a primary focus on driving census at all of our community locations – Goodwin House Alexandria, Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads and The View Alexandria.

GHI Sales Counselors are responsible for providing information and counseling related to the benefits of living in a Life Plan Community (LPC) or a Rental Community, specifically the unique benefits of choosing to live at one of our GHI communities – all of which are well respected and managed. They contribute to a highly engaged sales team responsible for meeting occupancy goals and revenue targets established and rewarded by the organization. They also are part of an organization that looks forward and leads the Northern Virginia region in re-thinking existing models of aging and imagining new ones that enable older adults to flourish.

Job Duties

  • Manage sales inquiries through a variety of channels such as in-person, phone, email, website and live chat and provide timely follow up to capture and cultivate leads. Build and manage relationships with individuals waiting to become residents; continually prepare them for a future move to a GHI community.
  • Conduct thorough discovery, learning about the prospect’s goals for active aging and their personal motivation for moving to a senior living community.
  • Document all available information in Salesforce, GHI’s Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Utilize Salesforce to manage the workday by consistently scheduling follow up activities for every active lead in the database.
  • Complete the required number of selling activities each week i.e. phone calls, emails, appointments, and home visits.
  • Provide onsite tours of the communities, highlighting key features of both common amenities and more than 50 individual floor plans.
  • Provide in-depth explanation that furthers understanding of all GHI options and competitive differentiators, as well as the costs and benefits of the financial plans available at all GHI communities.
  • Ensure growth in the Priority Club (wait list) at GHA and GHBC by selling the advantages of becoming a member.
  • Provide video calls with prospects when meetings do not need to be or can’t be held in person.
  • Provide virtual tours of the communities, utilizing cell phones or tablets, in the event that the prospect cannot physically visit the community.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or previous experience in marketing, senior living or housing sales or related field.
  • Skill, experience and poise welcoming, informing and working with older adults, their family members and advisors as they explore retirement planning and moving into LPCs.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach to contributing to sales strategy development and execution and positive teamwork.
  • Proficiency with MSOffice software including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Familiarity with CRM databases. Experience with Google Chrome or other internet browsers. Experience with video call applications such as Zoom and GoToMeeting. Experience with computer file management. Ability to learn new software programs and applications quickly and with enthusiasm.  Experience with Salesforce a plus.  Experience with Microsoft Teams a plus
