Argentum Launches Senior Living Works Expansion Focused on the Future Workforce

Argentum Launches Senior Living Works Expansion Focused on the Future Workforce

Argentum is pleased to announce a new resource available from Senior Living Works. Careers in Caring, found on the Senior Living Works website, aims to share information with jobseekers and students on opportunities available in the senior living industry. Showcased online are 20 careers across caregiving and nursing, hospitality and resident services, dining and culinary, management, maintenance and housekeeping, sales and marketing, and more.

“Research shows that younger generations in particular are dedicated to connecting their work to a greater mission,” said James Balda, Argentum President & CEO. “We need to continue to share the message that a career in senior living not only offers opportunities for advancement, but also a true opportunity to make lasting connections and improve the lives of older adults. Our new resource showcases many of those positions where one can truly make a difference.”

The expansion builds on the existing Senior Living Works program and comes after consultation and direction from Argentum’s Workforce Development Committee, Human Resources Executive Roundtable, and other key stakeholders. It is part of a multi-layered plan to connect current and future applicants to rewarding careers in the industry. Argentum launched the Senior Living Works initiative in April 2018 and started the Senior Living Works Ambassador program, which now numbers more than 700 professionals. In early 2019, Argentum added the Education Pipeline, an online resource to search for college and other education programs that match hiring needs searchable by state, county, and desired credential.

Now, Argentum is building stories of success in senior living—from the high school student whose internship turned into a great career, to the part-time dining worker who grew to manage the entire culinary staff, to the registered nurse who became the executive director of her own community. These stories are the heart of the Senior Living Works Ambassador program and will be integrated, via text and video stories, into the ever evolving and expanding initiative. The website will grow to highlight apprenticeships and other career progressions across our many occupations and will serve as an important resource for Careers in Aging Week, April 19-25, 2020, which Argentum is co-sponsoring with other organizations.

Argentum encourages senior living professionals to use this new online resource to inform interested students and applicants about the range of careers offer in the industry.
