Started by nurse/physician assistant who worked in emergency rooms and intensive care for 25 years, Compassion & Choices is a national nonprofit dedicated to expanding and improving healthcare options at the end of life. We offer free resources to educate individuals and families about all end-of-life care options including advanced healthcare directives, dementia and other options to relieve suffering, including comfort and hospice care, and the option in Washington, D.C. of medical aid in dying to peacefully end suffering. Maryland and Virginia have introduced pro medical aid in dying bills Medical aid in dying is a compassionate medical practice supported by numerous national healthcare groups. It has been safely practiced for over 40+ combined years in 10 states and Washington DC.
