Founder, Dementia Care Connections

Nicole has over 20 years of experience in healthcare, primarily in the field of aging. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and trained in BCAT®. Nicole is a memory cafe facilitator, support group facilitator for the Alzheimer's Association, Community Ambassador for Fairfax Area Agency on Aging 50+ program, Senior Ambassador for Senior Services of Alexandria, Dementia Champion, and on the action teams for Dementia Friendly Herndon and Dementia Friendly Alexandria. Nicole finds joy in travel, art galleries, museums, Virginia Tech football, outdoor adventures with her husband, and daily walks with her mostly well-behaved cockapoo.

"As a former family caregiver, I understand firsthand the complexity involved navigating care options and special considerations for loved one's living at home with cognitive impairment. Families are doing the best they can to meet a loved one where they are in their journey and learn as much as they can in a constantly evolving situation. On top of everything else, many struggle with finding ways to keep their loved one engaged throughout the day. Feeling overwhelmed is an absolute understatement. This is hard stuff and bigger than one person can manage on their own. No one was ever meant to walk this journey alone- it truly takes a village"
