CarePatrol Education Series - Preventing Social Isolation and Loneliness During the Pandemic: Important Holistic Approaches

The COVID-19 Pandemic has significantly impacted many people's mental state due to eliminating their ability to gather and socially connect with others. As a result, social isolation and loneliness have become more prevalent than in recent years, especially among the elderly. Many have failed to acknowledge the cost, such as a decline in mental health, increase in substance abuse disorder (SUD), and increased mortality linked to social isolation and loneliness. There is a need for a practical application utilizing holistic approaches that can help prevent the increase in social isolation and loneliness, not only among the general public but especially targeting our at-risk or high-risk populations.
