An Overview
The Senior Therapist will be responsible for providing urgent and routine clinical evaluations, competency evaluations, emergency services, individual and group psychotherapy, outreach and prevention services to geriatric mental health consumers as a member of the Older Adult Clinical Services team in Aging and Adult Services.

What You Should Bring
The Senior Therapist should have thorough knowledge of individual and group behavior including thorough knowledge of treatment issues related to psychiatric problems, dual-diagnosis, and chemical dependency; good knowledge of issues associated with elderly and aging; ability to work successfully with a variety of consumers; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing with other professionals and with the public.

The Opportunity
  • Provides emergency and crisis intervention services to consumers;
  • Provides preadmission screenings for other Older Adult Clinical Services team members andback up support to Emergency Services regarding geriatric consumers;
  • Prepares reports for court proceedings, including competency evaluations, represents the Department, and testifies as an expert witness on behalf of consumers;
  • Conducts clinical intakes and evaluations, and formulates diagnoses and treatment plans for mental health consumers;
  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy to geriatric mental health consumers;
  • Consults to community and other agencies as assigned; Provides outreach services to engage geriatric mental health consumers;
  • Initiates medical, psychiatric, and psychological evaluation referrals as needed;
  • Maintains clinical records in accordance with State, City, Departmental, and Federal compliance requirements;
  • Participates in staff development, and performs related work as required.
