12:35:42     From Nicole Smith : https://eldercare.acl.gov/Public/About/Aging_Network/AAA.aspx

12:35:45     From Martha Villanigro-Santiago  to  Hosts and panelists : I greatly appreciate Kitty sharing her journey because my family welcomes humor. Since 2013 my mother has been living with Alzheimer’s in a nursing home. My challenges as a caregiver have greatly increased while my time has decreased. Any suggestions for balancing my time during my caregiver journey?

12:35:51     From Steve Gurney - ProAging Community : Nicole Smith 12:33 PM

From what I have read and researched, lifestyle plays a bigger role in dementia than genetics. There are still so many unknowns around prevention, cause, cure and treatment.

12:38:21     From Denise Scott : I had to move my mother out of the assisted living home because her fees were increased beyond her income without the assurance of immediate improvements.  I am at the age that my mom initially started with memory loss.  she has lived with me since 2011 with exception of 2 years at that facility.  I am at my wits end.

12:42:29     From Carolyn Gehrig-Cook  to  Hosts and panelists : Both of my parents have old age dementia. My father recently passed. Although I was told by another neurologist that if I got it, I would likely follow their path, my mother’s neurologist said that the onset for offspring is typically early aka Frontotemporal Dementia which is what Bruce Willis has.

12:51:46     From zahida hasan : Kitty very smart movie

12:51:55     From Carolyn Gehrig-Cook  to  Hosts and panelists : Family Eldercare providers are truly undervalued and unsupported far less than parents of children. Advocacy is really critical to look out for ourselves and those who will become this role for their families. Caregivers have such rich stories to illustrate how public policy and a safety net for us is necessary.

12:53:32     From Carol Gorove : Keep in mind that every loved one/patient is uni

12:53:44     From Cheryl Rosenbaum : Have you looked to see if there are any adult day centers in your area?

12:55:06     From Denise Scott : I appreciate the support. and can't wait to view the film.  I'd hope my siblings would be my community.  but I am making connections.

12:55:10     From Rosanne Corcoran : Sometimes as caregivers we get caught up in “the right way” to take time for ourselves or we think we’re not doing it right. It doesn’t have to be grand moments, even small moments that make you feel better can help. As Kitty portrays in the film, connecting with other people who understand would also be helpful.

12:56:11     From Rosanne Corcoran : If you feel you can, check out Daughterhood.org - we have virtual circles which offer support and community for free. Everyone there understands and has been a caregiver.

12:56:15     From Martha Villanigro-Santiago : Thank you Christine for your podcast suggestion. I will look for possible guidance.

12:56:25     From Christine Smith : https://www.daughterhood.org/daughterhood-the-podcast-3-2/  THERE ARE ZOOM GROUPS called Daughterhood Circles. Not shows, not recorded, no cost. Just caregivers listening to caregivers

12:56:28     From Nicole Smith : yay Rosanne!

12:56:36     From Rosanne Corcoran : Hi!

12:59:12     From Steve Gurney - ProAging Community : is there more dementia now, or is it just out of the closet? Baby boom generation?                 Research shows there are more than 944,000 people in the UK who have dementia. 1 in 11 people over the age of 65 have dementia in the UK. The number of people with dementia is increasing because people are living longer.

13:00:25     From Nicole Smith : Baby boomer generation is 70 million, combined with advancements in physical procedures, makes the mind more vulnerable.

13:00:53     From Susie Sarkisian  to  Hosts and panelists : As a Family Support Coach, my tagline is Navigating Aging in Families.  The people writing in on this chat are exactly the people I support. Don't want to come across as a self-promotor, so I'm not putting my website on the chat- but would welcome a conversation about how to connect with these family caregivers.  This is exactly what I'm meant to do.

13:01:10     From Nicole Smith : absolutely!!!

13:01:22     From Denise Scott : go boomers!
