As we age, we face numerous decisions on how to manage our home, health, safety, finances, and more. Knowing your options and discovering helpful resources can make those decisions easier.
Find answers to these questions and more at the Fairfax Village in the City Home for Life 2023 Expo, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 in the Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Blenheim Blvd.
At this free event open to people of all ages and their families and friends, Village advisory board members and volunteers can help you consider the challenges and advantages of your current living situation, learn how to adapt for safe and successful aging, and meet local agencies and providers who can help us do just that — or find desirable alternatives.
The expo includes exhibitors featuring services and programs, as well as speakers on topics of particular interest for aging adults. Currently scheduled talks include how to assess your home for updates or changes, how to stay healthy as you get older, and how to use technology to your benefit. (Check out the current program, below.)
“The expo encompasses the various aspects of taking care of ourselves as we get older,” said Jason Scadron, village coordinator. “Fairfax Village in the City wants to empower you to make the best decisions for yourself, and we brought together the resources that can help you make those decisions.”
The breadth of resources at the expo speaks to the many aspects of this journey. You may have specific questions in mind, or you may not even know where to start. You may have managed everything you can think of as far as housing, but you’re not sure about how to maximize your estate. Maybe you just want to find classes or social programs for you and your friends. The expo has information and resources on all that, and more.
